In Rise, you assume responsibility for the economic and social development of a city. There are not many limits to your possibilities: On various tracks, you can influence how best to provide for your citizens’ well-being, whether through culture, science, or political relations — but all of this can be achieved only in accordance with respect for conservation of the environment and the satisfaction of the population.
The game revolves around ten tracks on which you move your markers to gain further effects and gather influence. The unique and innovative card mechanism, which includes events and tough decisions, will change your decision making from round to round.
Once twelve rounds have been played, players count their points to see who was able to accumulate the most influence in the city.

Action selection, resource management. Move up (or sometimes down) tracks to gain benefits and points. Plays up to 4 in about 90 minutes

Positives: Love games of a bunch of tracks. Love engine building. Love bonuses. Really love the action selection that gets more expensive but allows you to take advantage of the events in between. Negatives: While I love bonuses, none of them in this game are exciting. It made me wonder why I was bothering doing any of it. I wish there had been more ways to score or goals or something that made the tracks interesting. Overall: Man, I wanted to love this. It's not bad, but it left me wishing that it had been designed with more interesting decisions and bonuses on the tracks as opposed to just moving up yet another track. So close to a good game but falls short.

Very dry, but interesting. I am not sure how much I will want to play with just the A sides, but the B sides sound as if they will add some interesting aspects.
