Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
The primary goal of a set collection mechanic is to encourage a player to collect a set of items.
Set Collection
This mechanism requires players to select individual actions from a set of actions available to all players. Players generally select actions one-at-a-time and in turn order. There is usually(*) a limit on the number of times a single action may be taken. Actions are commonly selected by the placement of game pieces or tokens on the selected actions. Each player usually has a limited number of pieces with which to participate in the process.

I like the dual nature of the put-down-and-pick-up. Game flows very nicely. Why not higher? First, there's nothing particularly unique here, though it does what it does very well. Second, the growth curve is very shallow. Someone can rush the end of the game, meaning that building up infrastructure isn't as useful as it should be. You really don't need all that much to push onwards. That doesn't negate elements of the game, but it did feel like that's not the real focus - it's not even a primary focus. Just keep pushing.

Good worker placement, order-fulfillment game. Great iconography and production quality. Felt very linear, though. Not all that many options. Seems like the only real variation comes in the card play.

I love all Renegade worker placement games and this is no exception. I love the idea of placing a worker and taking one back for two actions each turn. I also love how all resources start on the board and slowly dwindle. The cards have great abilities with a bit of meanness and some player interaction. It's a huge puzzle and a fun one trying to decide what actions and raids to go on to convert to points. Including the bag for setup is a nice touch. It's a solid package and I can't wait to try out the expansions.
