Pattern Building is a system where players place game components in specific patterns in order to gain specific or variable game results. For example: placing chips on 2, 4, 6, 8 on a board gets the player an action card they can use later in the game.
Pattern Building
The primary goal of a set collection mechanic is to encourage a player to collect a set of items.
Set Collection
Tile Placement games feature placing a piece to score VPs, with the amount often based on adjacent pieces or pieces in the same group/cluster, and keying off non-spatial properties like color, "feature completion", cluster size etc.

I really like this expansion. Sure, it is small but it A) makes civic building more interesting (as they are probably the most 'boring' tile type) and B) Make building slightly weirder cities better meaning there are more strategies.

Love the base game; we enjoy this expansion but it's definitely not worth full price. The public services potentially just replace the base game ones, so there's not really anything new to it. We do enjoy the variability this gives though, so while I don't see us playing without this expansion, it's tough to fully recommend.

Adds a nice twist to the public buildings, which can affect end-game scoring. Nothing that is really necessary, but it adds variability to the game.
