Peloponnes Card Game
45m - 45m
2 - 5 Players
Ages 10+
This mechanic requires you to place a bid, usually monetary, on items in an auction of goods in order to enhance your position in the game. These goods allow players future actions or improve a position. The auction consists of taking turns placing bids on a given item until one winner is established, allowing the winner to take control of the item being bid on. Usually there is a game rule that helps drop the price of the items being bid on if no players are interested in the item at its current price.
Auction/Bidding
Card drafting games are games in which players pick cards from a limited subset, such as a common pool, to gain some advantage (immediate or longterm) or to assemble hands of cards that are used to meet objectives within the game.
Card Drafting
Variable Player Powers is a mechanic that grants different abilities and/or paths to victory to the players.

At least it's a style I don't like. :arrowE: OTHER GAME INFO: Game Weight = 2.6/5 Release Date = 2015 Number of Player = (1)2-5 (SOLOABLE) 1-player length = 30 min. 2-player length = 30 min. X-player length = 45 min. Player Count Preference = Best at 3, great at 2, recommended at 4 and 5! :thumbsup::thumbsdown:

Surprised at how much I am enjoying this. The theme is veneer-thin but still works for me. Balancing resource growth with building growth, keeping up with feeding your population as well as planning for natural disasters are all thrown in the mix to create a nice matrix of juggled concerns. I have multiple fronts to monitor and tend but in a streamlined, small footprint design. The solo game has been a pleasure. Compared to the base game, this is faster, more elegantly streamlined, and overall a bit more fun to play for me. The only piece I miss from the original game is being able to collect resources each round for use. I also prefer this version's method for allowing you to plan for and deal with disasters and the fact that which ones will emerge is uncertain.
