Card drafting games are games in which players pick cards from a limited subset, such as a common pool, to gain some advantage (immediate or longterm) or to assemble hands of cards that are used to meet objectives within the game.
Card Drafting
The primary goal of a set collection mechanic is to encourage a player to collect a set of items.
Set Collection
This mechanism requires players to select individual actions from a set of actions available to all players. Players generally select actions one-at-a-time and in turn order. There is usually(*) a limit on the number of times a single action may be taken. Actions are commonly selected by the placement of game pieces or tokens on the selected actions. Each player usually has a limited number of pieces with which to participate in the process.

I like the puzzley game-play of trying to pluck the right merchants out of the parade that marches down the center of the board. but there doesnt seem to be much there overall. It's not exactly light and approachable nor is it deep and crunchy. It doesn't have the hit the pleasant sweet spot in the middle either. The action selection looks like it's going to add an interesting wrinkle to the process but it ends up being kinda dull and feels cumbersome.

This is a game with some fun plastic pieces that attach to the board, and a nice set of simple core mechanics involving: acquiring tiles, placing them in your personal queue, pushing them from the queue up to an activation area, then activating them so as to move around one of the many rondels which then provide you with bonuses and the ability to drop cubes. The first person to drop all their cubes wins the game. What does this game feel like when you are playing it? It feels like you are engaging in your own little solitaire programming game and going around in circles on wheels. Fun? Not so much. In this respect, Nevertheless, I think this game will definitely appeal to euro gamers who like a smart programming challenge, and like spending time (too much downtime for my tastes in my four player game) staring at that programming challenge with minimal player interaction. There are cards that confer certain asymmetrical advantages, and secret goal cards as well which might appeal to some gamers, though as I experienced them, they felt tacked on, and limited in appeal. The action selection mechanic is almost clever, but in practice, it frequently felt infuriating as the action you wanted to take was not available. Clearly, the game wants you to strategically toggle between the "plaza action" and "market action," while masterfully choosing the exact tiles you need to facilitate that toggling. The other two actions felt much less exciting though perhaps acquiring not particularly exciting cards is important as well. In the final analysis, this game feels like a yeoman's effort, but at it's core, it lacks any magic, and is just not that much fun to play. On the other hand, I did like the plastic piece,s and the Petra theme is fun.

It takes a while to get all the mechanisms together. When you got it then it s a very interesting game . It looks great but I think two important points are not explained very well in the rules. 1) You are moving TOWARDS the action you want to do 2) An example would have been great how to get around one the wheels 2 times and drop one or more cubes. And that you get only the text of the villagers in the rules again instead of examples for the difficult ones is a joke. Gold West is still the much better Kevern game. This one is OK and gets 0.5 rating higher for one the most interesting places where I ve been.
