Card drafting games are games in which players pick cards from a limited subset, such as a common pool, to gain some advantage (immediate or longterm) or to assemble hands of cards that are used to meet objectives within the game.
Card Drafting
The primary goal of a set collection mechanic is to encourage a player to collect a set of items.
Set Collection
This mechanism requires players to select individual actions from a set of actions available to all players. Players generally select actions one-at-a-time and in turn order. There is usually(*) a limit on the number of times a single action may be taken. Actions are commonly selected by the placement of game pieces or tokens on the selected actions. Each player usually has a limited number of pieces with which to participate in the process.

Big Bad Lex
First Play: With rules explanation we finished a 3 player game in less than an hour. Despite the big (ish) box the board and the heavy plastic rocky walls this is a filler which could be wrapped up easily in 40 minutes with experienced players. Nice production but there is no need for the board or the card screen or the plastic walls, it is overproduced in respect to the main board but the player boards could have a better design to accommodate expansion sections for traders. Some bonuses are considerably better than others. It works but seems that the strategy is to bulk on a few colours and to churn big market turns to lap the tracks. Fulfilling the mini Petra cards is just opportunistic. Player interaction seems coincidental. I'd play again because it is so fast but it would have to be someone elses copy because this has no place in my collection.

Plus: Fun to play. Nothing else quite like it. (Setting up trades between your own collected sets in order to progress on multiple rondels?) I felt like I was way behind for most of the game, then came within one turn of winning. Minus: Very little player interaction beyond getting annoyed when someone else takes the piece you need. The theme is a little dry.

Neat set collection/action management game. Makes you feel good in a Castles of Burgundy sort of way, albeit not such a strong game.
