Somewhat straightforward euro wargame featuring ancient species. Pros: -widely variable player powers with playstyle customizability -somewhat unique theme -tension buildup through play, final can be epic Cons: -Behavior of AI automata feels a little nonsensical and doesn't take advantage of the games' mechanics enough. more development could have improved 2p and 3p. -some of the card management is unnecessarily fiddly; some of the mechanics could have been more sophisticated -cadence is odd; the most interesting things happen at the very end, beginning rounds feel very set-up oriented and somewhat frivolous -theme could be stronger... placing populations and occupying niches feels a bit dry... Sidebar: Rules are fine but some errors and inconsistencies make it less clear than others like to say...

Not as interactive as I would like. Random elements (adaptations) combined with limited options per animal at times lead to poor gaming experience.

As a geologist and paleontologist who works and teaches in this field I loved the way that the designer incorporated science into the game. The map is beautiful and I loved how the different factions work. I haven't had the chance to try each of them yet, but I'm definitely looking forward to more plays of this game.
