Oh, the horror. Would have played better with the original cards. A great number of KRO's. 'Nine Worlds' has had it then? I don't think the theme is Viking enough. It might work if it created the atmosphere of the Norse gods interfering with their rivals world, but instead, looks like marbles rolling round a board. I'd like to play it with the original cards, but after three hours first time round, the end didn't come soon enough. I literally willed Jim to win! (I don't think he actually needed my help....). Dragging along....who does that?

A game with a few simple core mechanisms (Tikals action points with various movement options, plus Civilization-style conflict resolution) which might make for a good game were it not for the fact that it seems to take ages to get anywhere if the players are too far apart. And if they are close together from the start (because there are a good number of them!), the game limits the amount of AP they receive. Perhaps it is only in the full game, so from round 7 to 9, that matters finally free themselves from the various rules shackles, but for an agressive game such as this the long lead-up time is of course nothing to be proud of. I will try to reschedule a match in the future, but at the same time I'm not holding my breath for when it happens.

Picked this game up almost based exclusively on the art which is stellar. Unfortunately it's sat on the shelf of shame for close to a year now, so listing it for trade. Still interested to check it out, but unusure when it'll end up hitting the table unfortunately. -------------- Having read the rules and played the game with 2, this is unfortunately one of those frustrating games that lies about it player count (2-6) on the box, as it doesn't really play at two at all - the rulebook even states that the two-player variant should only be used to learn the game. Frustrating, as I most often play at two players. However, my own pet peeve aside, the gameplay is actually very fun - I doubt it will stay on the shelves indefinitely, but I am looking forward to playing the game again with our gaming buddies at a fuller table.
