The Campaign/Battle Card Driven mechanic is a relatively recent development in war games that focuses the players' actions on cards they have in their hand. The very basic idea is that performing a single action uses a single card. Games where cards are used to determine the outcome of battles do not use this mechanic.
Campaign / Battle Card Driven
Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.
Dice Rolling
Play occurs upon a modular board that is composed of multiple pieces, often tiles or cards. In many games, board placement is randomized, leading to different possibilities for strategy and exploration. Some games in this category have multiple boards which are not used simultaneously, preserving table space. Unused boards remain out of play until they are required.
Modular Board
Player elimination occurs in multiple-player games (>2) when a player can be eliminated from the game and play continues without the eliminated player.
Player Elimination
Variable Player Powers is a mechanic that grants different abilities and/or paths to victory to the players.

It's good, but I'm not crazy about it. A little slow for me, not quite but almost boring? Very moody which fits the film, but ultimately I'd rather it play faster. Lockdown is much better.

It delivers all one could want from an Aliens inspired board game. Tension, drama, story, excitement, reversals and conclusions - all paced out over a quite long, but streamlined experience. I think the only thing to be done would be to speed the game along - but I do believe that would harm the experience at the same time. This one feels like FFG at their very best - and ever better. Loved it.

I love this game so much! Deep in my heart, I know it's not flawless. The dependence on the dice is just too heavy, which could make it feel like a luck-fest. But never before has a game integrated a semi-cooperative mechanism so perfectly. Also, the theme of this game is soooo good. It really feels as if you're being hunted by these creatures, and you'll feel every hit your character suffers. Theme (artwork/story/...) 2/2 Gameplay (smooth play/player interaction/strategy&tactics/depth) 4/5 Fun factor (can you afford a smile during play?) 3/3
