Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.
Dice Rolling
Play occurs upon a modular board that is composed of multiple pieces, often tiles or cards. In many games, board placement is randomized, leading to different possibilities for strategy and exploration. Some games in this category have multiple boards which are not used simultaneously, preserving table space. Unused boards remain out of play until they are required.
Modular Board
The primary goal of a set collection mechanic is to encourage a player to collect a set of items.

Brilliant roll 'n' move for a quick solo, with plenty of variety (expansions) on offer. A lot of bang for your buck in this little box. People who say this game is too simple, clearly did not play with the expansions. Try playing this game with all the expansions going on at once, not so simple after all!

The weakest of the Oniverse games, in my experience. I wanted to like it, but it lacks the depth of other games in the series and I struggle to find the excitement in choosing between the dice. It's a shame, as the components - especially the artwork - are delightful!

An excellent entry in the Oniverse series! The 2-player variant works quite well and is harder than the solo game. Includes 5 modular expansions which can be played individually or combined, and 6 different ship layouts with increasing levels of difficulty. This makes for loads of replayability and variability. So far I have enjoyed every one of the expansions I've played. The main con of this game is that it has quite a long setup time. A second smaller con is that, while the variable formation of the path is fun and offers some opportunity to be creative, since you pick up tokens as you traverse along the path, you should be careful not to put tokens too close to one another, so as not to confuse yourself about how the track works later in the game. This path, which only grows longer as you add in one or more expansions, also takes up a decent amount of table space.
