Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.

My favorite dungeon crawl as it doesn't have the one vs many confrontational element that Descent does. However this can be a liability as it is tough to 'ease up' when playing with my youngest son. Edit: Now that I've played the game a few more times, a seven rating definitely seems about right. My youngest son loves this game, the story elements are fun and the theme is just right. So game time with the family, that's a win! However my oldest son has really cooled on the game and doesn't play anymore. He wants more choices tactically and this game really just boils down to a slugfest. As the mice have leveled up I think there are some interesting choices with skills (Tilda's Fortify, Maginos' Chain Lightning, Colin's Inspire), so I guess I'm saying I don't completely agree with my son, but I understand his point of view. There's games out there with better advancement and more variety of maps/monsters/heroes, but they're longer (not good for a young child) and a key point here is they gloss over the story. I'm very happy I bought this game, it has already provided many hours of entertainment and I'm only halfway through the base game's story.
AgitatedStove
A good and cute game. Definitely for all ages. It's a very basic dungeon crawler that is themed to something that even kids will like. The story is played out as if you are taking part in a story book. Only downside is that some rules are confusing or unfair, so it is recommended that you play with some houserules in certain areas.

Co-op game with cute minis, very good mechanics and a great theme. Encourages roleplaying. So much fun. German edition
