Rating after 2 plays on BGA. This one os definitely more complex than the first one. It's a not a game for a boardgame newbie or for AP-proned players. With the addition of a new resource (jade) and goods conversion spots on the map, there's now this new layer of complexity based on goods conversion. Because of that, at moments it reminded of Century Spice Roads, which I don't like. It made the game more mathy. The map hás a very crowded look to it and some spots are constantly changing. This adds AP to the game. I was constantly trying to find the spots available for me. And this also because travelling is now more relevant. So, in one hand, more worker placement spots will be available on the cities and, in the other hand, you will be acessing the next best cities to go to all the time. This also makes the worker placement more loose. At 2 players, the other player interference is low. This is a solid game. I recommend trying it. And you really should try it if you are thinking on buying it. I disagree with those who say that you will be good with either version of the game. If you like the first one, you won't necessarily like this one For me, it crossed a complexity boderline where the game almost became an intelectual exercise more than an entertainment.

A bit more complex than Marco Polo 1. Still, the characters that get free resources abundantly seem stronger than the others.

Very good one, it is a step up from the original in terms of having to be more creative to win rather than following a set path, its nice to get new player powers too.
