Card drafting games are games in which players pick cards from a limited subset, such as a common pool, to gain some advantage (immediate or longterm) or to assemble hands of cards that are used to meet objectives within the game.

Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.
Dice Rolling
Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
Play occurs upon a modular board that is composed of multiple pieces, often tiles or cards. In many games, board placement is randomized, leading to different possibilities for strategy and exploration.Some games in this category have multiple boards which are not used simultaneously, preserving table space. Unused boards remain out of play until they are required.
Modular Board
Some board games incorporate elements of role playing. It can be that players control a character that improves over time. It can also be a game that encourages or inspires storytelling.

Tile Placement games feature placing a piece to score VPs, with the amount often based on adjacent pieces or pieces in the same group/cluster, and keying off non-spatial properties like color, "feature completion", cluster size etc.

Best Solo (and Co-Op for two players) game ever. Downside is that you need to remember all small rules but after all, fun from epic adventure is great

[i]2021/09/27 - 8 plays - 1,3p[/i] Epic landcrawler game based on the deck-building mechanic. The game provides an excellent power ramp that for once feels organic and earned by the player, instead of being timed and drip-fed by the game itself. Rules are not complicated, but there are a lot of them and they are distributed in several places (cards, rulebook), which means that if you're not aware of it you'll struggle a bit. Personally I dislike the art, it feels too cringy for my tastes, but the gameplay makes up for it. The components themselves are pretty good, you don't have to suffer through waves of unpainted mini's, as enemies are represented by tokens. I have enjoyed it as a solo and competitive experience. The game is long, but it's a blast to play, well recommended if you know what you're getting into.

I've read some reviews where people complain about it being too fiddly and requiring too much analysis to play ("every turn is like a puzzle to be solved" and so on). Also, that the rules are huge and full of exceptions. Well, those are all true, and are qualities for me. If you like a game that will demand lots and lots of brainpower, this one is for you. And the rules are so like you can customize them to make it a simpler game.
