Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.

Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
Play occurs upon a modular board that is composed of multiple pieces, often tiles or cards. In many games, board placement is randomized, leading to different possibilities for strategy and exploration. Some games in this category have multiple boards which are not used simultaneously, preserving table space. Unused boards remain out of play until they are required.
Modular Board
Some board games incorporate elements of role playing. It can be that players control a character that improves over time. It can also be a game that encourages or inspires storytelling.
Role Playing
Variable Phase Order implies that turns may not be played the same way as before and/or after.

Excellent expansion! It adds so much to the base game that it's definately worth it. A new character, General Volkare and his challenges, new cards and new opponents they sure transform the game adding many things without altering it's overall feeling. I welcome all these changes that made one of my favourite games even better!

If you play Mage Knight solo or coop, you simply must have this expansion. If you only play competitively, you probably should buy it anyway, because it has lots of new actions, spells, artifacts, enemies and a brand new character. And new starting cards for the 4 characters from the base game. And some updates to the rules and some cards. Seriously, why one wouldn't buy this new masterpiece from Vlaada's genius? The real only reason could be Wizkids' production problems (it really has compatibilities issues with the base game, especially the first edition) and terrible customer service. But, man, even considering that... buy Lost Legion and enjoy one of the greatest games out there, complete with an awesome expansion!

A Perfect expansion for one of the best games. All co-op scenarios are totally fantastic beautiful. Adds new Mage knight hero in the game and general VolKare as opponent of Mage Knights. The new spells, units, artifacts, enemies and action cards and tiles are pretty nice. EDIT: 2 years after and this one still be my best expansion
