Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.
Dice Rolling
Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
Play occurs upon a modular board that is composed of multiple pieces, often tiles or cards. In many games, board placement is randomized, leading to different possibilities for strategy and exploration.Some games in this category have multiple boards which are not used simultaneously, preserving table space. Unused boards remain out of play until they are required.

Some board games incorporate elements of role playing. It can be that players control a character that improves over time. It can also be a game that encourages or inspires storytelling.

Great twist in the game. Now you have to hunt and explore but at the same time avoid something horrible coming your way.

Few expansions put a great game into an even higher rating, this one is one of the few. Great expansion that adds a lot of good stuff and fixes some cards from the base game. The cenários with Volkare are really challenging and make the cooperative play better. Making Volkare an IA player in change of the dummy player on the base game really improved the game. As a bonus, there is a new cool mage knight.

Volkare and his related content are excellent, but Wolfhawk and a lot of the new cards are weak. The new cards also create deck bloat which hasn't been figured in to the difficulty ratings for solo play at all. Simply multiplying numbers by player count ignores that the offers will churn much more quickly with more players, making it much easier to get the spells you need. There is a similar problem with the number of tiles, but it's not as pronounced.
