Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
Play occurs upon a modular board that is composed of multiple pieces, often tiles or cards. In many games, board placement is randomized, leading to different possibilities for strategy and exploration. Some games in this category have multiple boards which are not used simultaneously, preserving table space. Unused boards remain out of play until they are required.
Modular Board
The primary goal of a set collection mechanic is to encourage a player to collect a set of items.

It's an OK game, which feels a bit old-school. I like the theme and the idea of collecting tiles using your workers. The mechanism of playing cards is also original, as you can play only the rightmost or leftmost card in your hand, which allows to plan ahead seeing the cards in the middle. But in my impression the game lacks replayability factor.

It's got some fun aspects, and it's easy to play, but overall not interesting or exciting enough to stay in my collection.

I was really intrigued by this game, and how it makes you play from a hand of cards without sorting them. It makes for some interesting strategic decisions as you have to plan ahead to get your better cards toward the outside edge of your hand. I also like the ratcheting movement on the board that forces you to decide whether to pass over a good space because you know there's a chance you won't be able to come back and get it. It's an interesting game that delivers something a little different but without getting too complex. Sadly, my wife was underwhelmed by it, and somewhat annoyed by the fact that you can have things you're working towards snatched away before you can score them. I'd love to play Luxor again some day, but I let it go from my collection because I won't be able to convince my wife to play.
