Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.
Dice Rolling
Tile Placement games feature placing a piece to score VPs, with the amount often based on adjacent pieces or pieces in the same group/cluster, and keying off non-spatial properties like color, "feature completion", cluster size etc.

The dice rolling completely outweighs any strategic decisions made during the game. Ultimately beautiful but no substance.

Very enjoyable 2 player game with lovely artwork (I got the dieselpunk version). It takes a couple of plays to get the handle of all the abilities and how they work together but it's certainly worth it. There is quite a luck factor as the game can finish abruptly with a die roll especially if you're not paying attention or take longer than it should. But overall a very nice experience that rewards replayability and offers different strategies to aim for. But also you need to make decisions at the start of the game that will impact the rest of your game, you can make changes later on but your initial setup (which you decide) is crucial. Wouldn't recommend to everyone.

Diesel punk version, heavy duty tiles! I like this but it can drag on a bit, and can be very hard to reposition the distant edges of the board. The stupid number track is in small segmented pieces which means they are constantly scattering and messing up the tiles, which is hugely annoying!
