Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.

Feels rushed, and Blacklist Games is a horrible company. I've backed four different campaigns from them that may never be delivered. Buyers/backers beware.

Leaving aside the issues with the publisher, Lasting Tales (LT) a very solid co-op minis-agnostic game. It's closest analogue would be Rangers of Shadow Deep (ROSD) but to make an analogy: ROSD is to LT as Dungeons and Dragons is to Pathfinder. Both are great systems but ROSD and DnD lean towards the simpler end while LT and Pathfinder give the player more mechanisms to play with and chew on. I appreciate LT's 2d6 system in particular over ROSD's d20 system because things feel much less swingy while still leaving just enough room for unexpected events. It's also very easy to teach because the target number is always 10. I also appreciate the build-your-own enemy encounter system. One of the things I love about minis-agnostic games is that you can use minis you already own from other games and LT really leans into that. Instead of saying "fight this specific enemy' during scenario setup, it asks you to pick enemies up to a certain point total. There's a laundry list of enemies in the appendix to choose from so it's easier to pick enemies based on figures you already own instead of being forced to find a proxy for something hyper-specific (looking at you, ROSD Vapor Snakes).
