Play occurs upon a modular board that is composed of multiple pieces, often tiles or cards. In many games, board placement is randomized, leading to different possibilities for strategy and exploration. Some games in this category have multiple boards which are not used simultaneously, preserving table space. Unused boards remain out of play until they are required.
Modular Board
Pattern Building is a system where players place game components in specific patterns in order to gain specific or variable game results. For example: placing chips on 2, 4, 6, 8 on a board gets the player an action card they can use later in the game.

I like a lot about this game, the Onitama stolen movement mechanics, the simplicity of play, and the theme. I do not like how over powered the Kaiju that can repick their battle cards is. Seriously, who ever gets that guy wins every time so far. I am a bit torn on the rock/paper/scissor mechanic for combat. I like it in theory, but the deck gods could simply smite you more often than not. Components- 6/10 Theme- 7/10 Mechanics- 6.5/10 Fun- 7/10

I liked this one - though there was one part that bothered me quite a bit which stopped me from buying it which is the randomness of attacking another monster. You attack them (makes sense) but the defender wins ties, there is pure luck in battle, and basically you give your opponents points as often as you get them.

Good, light game. Someone below commented on the strong luck basing of the battles and they are 100% correct. There are five symbols you can play from your cards that works like a rock, paper, scissors, lizard, Spock effect. For the two monsters doing battle, you each play a card at the same time with a best-of-five result giving the winner victory points. Losing does not directly harm you which removes the "Take that" aspect. Getting to smash a piece of the city every time you move is pretty fun.
