Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.

Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.

A game sank by it's own production. A bigger board would have improved this game a ton. :) 1 vs all works well :) Good guys really have to work together to succeed :) Solid simultaneous section/order resolve system :soblue: Getting KO seems overly rough :soblue: Little board :gulp: Super fiddly unnecessary location card system that could have all been avoided by a bigger board

Picked up at Goodwill on 7/15/21. Missing the Darkseid figure, Heroclix dial, and Heroclix card. Thankfully the Darkseid dial for the game proper is intact. Everything else seems to be present. Haven't played yet.

Hidden under a very simple set of mechanics (See the very well-written rulebook!) is a strategic gem with strong bluffing and risk mitigation elements, that feels, if you're playing one of the cooperating heroes, a lot like playing Pandemic, if the Virus knew how you were going to try to stop it and fought back. As one of the playtester/developers of the game, I can tell you that I had fun playing any of the Heroes, especially as they started to level up and I could pick new powers for them based on what the team might be needing. That said, I REALLY enjoyed playing Darkseid, keeping the Heroes guessing and hitting them where it hurts. Warning: You may be residually sinister for a half hour or so after playing him. :-)
