It’s a Wonderful Kingdom is a standalone solo or 2-player game in a Low-Fantasy universe.
Inspired by the core mechanics of its predecessor "It’s a Wonderful World", this new game offers more interaction, a bluff mechanism and new challenges.
The game is played using modules, each different and offering mechanical twists. Each game, players will choose one of the different modules to compete against each other.
The game is divided into 4 rounds. Each round having 3 phases.
1/ Split & Trap
Players take turns placing their cards on two piles at the center of the table.
One player picks 2 cards from his hand and place it either on the same pile, or split it among the two piles. The other player chooses a pile. This step is repeated alternatively until the players have placed all the cards from their hands.
Furthermore, each player has 2 Trap tokens which can be used to place face down cards.
2/ Planification
Each player chooses, for the cards he has collected, which ones to build and which ones to recycle in order to accelerate the development.
3/ Sequential Production
Each player produces the resources of his Kingdom in a sequential way. The resources being produced in a certain order, it is necessary to anticipate the sequences to optimize the production and development.
At the end of the 4th round, the player with the most victory points wins the game.

includes promo pack Goodies 1 They added some cool stuff that makes this worth it even if you have its a wonderful world. Well I played the advisors solo and those cards seemed underpowered. Soldiers are too vauable to be wasting them on the special abilities the advisors give you. T

I like It's a Wonderful World and don't think it needed a 2 player version, but when it popped up on BGA I figured why not. Turns out I hate this game. It takes everything fun about the engine building of the original and turns it into a game about bluffing and take that. It uses an I split you choose mechanism to draft cards, but you're allowed to put 2 of the 8 cards face down each round for your opponent so you don't know everything you're getting. Further, the module we played with has a lot of negative interaction which makes building your engine even harder. I know the game comes with other modules you can play with instead that may not have as many attack cards. However, after playing this one module this game became such a turn off that I'd rather just play the original and I have no interest in exploring this game further.

Bought for solo play mostly. Have only tried the quest module so far. The addition of modules compared to It's a Wonderful World, makes the game more difficult. And considering the game is reliant of luck of the draw, it can be very punishing.
