This mechanic requires you to place a bid, usually monetary, on items in an auction of goods in order to enhance your position in the game. These goods allow players future actions or improve a position. The auction consists of taking turns placing bids on a given item until one winner is established, allowing the winner to take control of the item being bid on. Usually there is a game rule that helps drop the price of the items being bid on if no players are interested in the item at its current price.

Reminds me of Chicago Express and Paris Connection, and of the three, I think I like this one the best. If you like 18xx games, this one seems to pack a decent amount of punch in a very short game, Is it perfectly tuned? Does it have lots of replayability? Not sure after one play, but I suspect that the answers to these questions may have to do with just how robust and interesting the "cube placement" action can become in the game. On first play, to my detriment I think, I barely explored that action.

The simplest way to incorporated everything 18XX ever is. Into this simple design that last for an hour plus. Strategy and options are not heavy but determines the game play for replay ability and excitement An excellent design.

Iberian Gauge's more chaotic older sibling. i wasn't sure i would want to own both games but i really do. they're quite different. this one seems more variable and more "party" game in a way. there's quite a bit of randomness but it actually creates an edgy and interesting decision space. unlike most of my library, it plays quickly and the rules are on a single A4 sheet of paper. oh, and it's beautiful. more Amabel Holland & Ian O'Toole please. starting at an 8 but i see this going up since it seems actually quite replayable and i've had a blast both times i've played it. p: 3 - 5; 4 - 5
