This mechanic requires you to place a bid, usually monetary, on items in an auction of goods in order to enhance your position in the game. These goods allow players future actions or improve a position. The auction consists of taking turns placing bids on a given item until one winner is established, allowing the winner to take control of the item being bid on. Usually there is a game rule that helps drop the price of the items being bid on if no players are interested in the item at its current price.

Didn't feel like decisions were important enough and that the game will play out much differently each time. Sold to someone right afterwords who enjoyed the game.
Admiral Fisher
I liked it on first play - elements of Mogul and Acquire and lots of railway games, yet somehow different - and best of all, just the right game length. However, it does lose a point for having a bit too much AP at times.

Initial impression: Looks to finally be a proper response to Wabash/Pampas, the best since at least Age of Scheme. Puts a healthy bit of randomness (what!? I just said that?) in the stead of Preussische/German Rails. Winsome has previously done much with the "you can take dividends whenever you would like although you are least likely to gain by it", but this is the best of that lot I've seen. Game could ultimately be unfortunately flat, hence the tepid 8 rating...could swing down to an uninspired-to-play-again 6 or upwards of a 9ish. Update: Woah, that randomness! Losing points, unlikely to table again soon.
