This mechanic requires you to place a bid, usually monetary, on items in an auction of goods in order to enhance your position in the game. These goods allow players future actions or improve a position. The auction consists of taking turns placing bids on a given item until one winner is established, allowing the winner to take control of the item being bid on. Usually there is a game rule that helps drop the price of the items being bid on if no players are interested in the item at its current price.

Didn't feel like decisions were important enough and that the game will play out much differently each time. Sold to someone right afterwords who enjoyed the game.

I liked it on first play - elements of Mogul and Acquire and lots of railway games, yet somehow different - and best of all, just the right game length. However, it does lose a point for having a bit too much AP at times.

3 plays / 3,5 players LIKE: Each turn is vital in this very tight game. Quick! Easy rules. I like that the game is about diversifying or protecting your stock strategically. Valuation of the stocks is pivotal. I like how the industries can be gamed by reducing the chances for their payout. DISLIKE: Keeping track of the stock values was almost pointless. There's a math error on the board and glue stain on the board, but this didn't slow us down. The game can favor the rich, but the game is quick. OVERALL: I really liked it! Fast and furious. Do I diversify? Do I expand? Who am I helping if I expand? Do I thin the other industries? Do I pay out? Great decisions. I like it more than Chicago Express, because in CE, a player can obtain someone else's stock just to tank the rail line to win. With this game, one could do that but the other options may be better. Similar games: Chicago Express, Paris Connection, Dwarves Inc, Winsome games
