Inis

Card drafting games are games in which players pick cards from a limited subset, such as a common pool, to gain some advantage (immediate or longterm) or to assemble hands of cards that are used to meet objectives within the game.
Card Drafting
Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
Play occurs upon a modular board that is composed of multiple pieces, often tiles or cards. In many games, board placement is randomized, leading to different possibilities for strategy and exploration. Some games in this category have multiple boards which are not used simultaneously, preserving table space. Unused boards remain out of play until they are required.
Modular Board
Variable Phase Order implies that turns may not be played the same way as before and/or after.

A wonderful collection of additional cards, territories, expansions and slight rule modifications. It's great to be able to play 5 players when we have a larger group. It's not the quickest game, but I love it for everything it does.

Ultimately, this expansion adds a 5th player to Inis. It is marketed as being 5 modules that you can mix and match as you please. I'll break them down below: 1. The 5th player Action cards and miniatures. 2. A tiebreaker to avoid repeated ties among Pretenders (best with 4-5 players; I've never found ties among 3 players to go on for more than 2 rounds). 3. New Harbor Territories that increase movement opportunities with their Advantage Cards and connecting tiles. This shrinks the map and increases player interaction. I've found that with less than 4 players, the map never expands to a large enough size that they add much to the game, and have begun shuffling them out when playing with 2 or 3 players to avoid diluting the territory deck. 4. The Seasons Wheel is personally my favorite addition to the game. It's more for repeated plays, but the way that it adds an overarching strategic element to the game's primary focus on tactical reactions is quite nice. Once players can remember the effects of each Season, it really adds a nice thematic layer to the game and enhances the experience. Only gripe is that the Summer Assembly effect is literally useless with fewer than 3 players, and it's the one that would otherwise speed up the game. 5. New Epic Tale cards are nice. This is the only module that has seen regular play with my group, unfortunately. For roughly $50, this expansion simply isn't a good value proposition at all. If you want to play Inis with 5 players and mostly play it with 4, then I think that it adds some pretty high-quality stuff to the game for regular groups. If you either play Inis mostly with 2 or 3 players or with a rotating group of players, then I'd recommend using that money to get a whole different board game instead. It's unfortunate, because Inis is fantastic and this expansion is still good, but it really doesn't feel like it adds enough for what it asks of the players.

Was a shame for me as Inis is one of the best but this didn't add enough to warrant the price tag IMO
