The Campaign/Battle Card Driven mechanic is a relatively recent development in war games that focuses the players' actions on cards they have in their hand. The very basic idea is that performing a single action uses a single card. Games where cards are used to determine the outcome of battles do not use this mechanic.

Card drafting games are games in which players pick cards from a limited subset, such as a common pool, to gain some advantage (immediate or longterm) or to assemble hands of cards that are used to meet objectives within the game.

Gra jest dobra, ale jest też czasochłonna. Jest czasochłonna podczas uczenia, bo instrukcja nie należy do najlepszych, nie jest intuicyjna, ma wiele mikro zasad. Czas rozgrywki to raczej 4h+, jak już zaznajomimy się z zasadami i przestaniemy wertować instrukcję w poszukiwaniu odpowiedzi. Najważniejsze pytanie to czy czas poświęcony na naukę tej gry zwróci się podczas grania? W moim odczuciu nie, ponieważ na rynku obecnie jest wiele gier, które są krótsze, bardziej intuicyjne w zasadach, z lepszą instrukcją i pozostawiają po sobie taką samą jak nie większą satysfakcję.

Ran thru the playbook example and moved pieces around. Not as much of a CDG as Twilight Struggle and more to juggle with the various actions, but I can see how it would all work. More plays planned.

Unlike Twilight Struggle, it’s hard to see the history behind the game. Less thematic, and less interesting for me because of it.
