This mechanism requires players to select individual actions from a set of actions available to all players. Players generally select actions one-at-a-time and in turn order. There is usually(*) a limit on the number of times a single action may be taken. Actions are commonly selected by the placement of game pieces or tokens on the selected actions. Each player usually has a limited number of pieces with which to participate in the process.

Really simple worker placement game, which reminds me a bit of lords of waterdeep in that you are completing lessons and challenges which have differing requirements although in this is as a track of skills rather than physically collecting meeple. The potter theme is cool but wooden player markers would have been nice, expecially as it can be a bit difficult to spot them once they are on the board- specifically gryffindor house which is a burgandy colour like a lot of the board, but thats a nit pick. I do really like the test tube house point collecter which is fun. It allows you a rough estimate of board position without having to count and recount points.

Felt like a solid worker placement. Some components are really nice (test tube, points, gems) but others feel a bit drab. Overall, the game felt very tight- we were hurting for resources and always felt like we needed just one more turn each round to get what we needed and wanted. You can try to directly block, but more often then not just inadvertently block. While I enjoy the game, it's not necessarily a standout and one I feel I need to have in my collection.

Really strong introductory worker placement game. Themed very nicely in the Harry Potter universe. My favorite WP game is Viticulture, but in order for friends to learn what worker placement is, I have used this game as a teaching sample because of the theme and how fun it is. Then they graduate to Viticulture.
