Play occurs upon a modular board that is composed of multiple pieces, often tiles or cards. In many games, board placement is randomized, leading to different possibilities for strategy and exploration. Some games in this category have multiple boards which are not used simultaneously, preserving table space. Unused boards remain out of play until they are required.

Loved it. It felt better to me than Terra Mystica - the elder version of this one. The systems are smoother, and yet still extremely crunchy. For some reason, I enjoy the tangle of planets and powers. I have no idea if things are well balanced among the asymmetry (Terra fell afoul on that count). In any event, loved it - unsure I would play Terra again.

This game is perfect. It's so well balanced that most scores end up within a small margin of each other with completely different paths. We really enjoyed the original and this felt more streamlined but still fairly identical to the main part of the game. The factions all felt different and the strategies to use them are different. I think I prefer the original theme more but this was really well done to make it seem like you were in space doing the same thing. The federation is a cool idea and the green cubes add another layer of decisions to the game. The choices you have to make are incredibly interesting and the resources are tight often spending everything to pull off bigger moves. The game play feels different despite being so similar because of how you look at and maneuver around the map. The variability is much higher due to the map. Looking forward to trying out all the factions. This deserves to be in the top 10.

Great improvement from the great game "Terra Mystrica" especially about its tech-tree. At the beginning, I don't like its artwork. But, after a few play, it become acceptable. HA!!!
