Flash Point: Fire Rescue - 2nd Story, an expansion pack for Flash Point: Fire Rescue, contains two double-sided mounted game boards and a counter sheet that contains ladders, windows, an explosion marker, and more. Each game board represents one floor of a building, and the player firefighters will need to cover more area in this expansion to keep things under control. Ladders and stairs provide access to the upper building level, and windows let firefighters enter and leave the building without causing structural damage.

The 2nd Story boards represent two different house layouts, both split over two levels. They are placed side by side to make up a board of similar size to a standard map. They are not noticeably more challenging than the base game, and certainly easier than Urban Structures, but they do add variety. The added rules are not complex at all; the staircase, window, and ladder rules are intuitive and realistic. Like Urban Structures, it's a great expansion for a great game

Very cool map boards which present new tactical conundrums. Getting trapped on the second story and requiring a buddy to deploy a ladder to get you out is hectic and thrilling. On the downside, there do appear to be a couple of misprints on the first printing. The B side of the boards are missing the area on the board to track rescued/lost PoIs and Hotspots. The B side also may be missing a window icon - although this isn't 100% sure yet. The artwork portrays a window but the blue icon is not there. It's being debated whether it should really be a window or not. The expansion also comes with an explosion marker that looks cool but is not useful (why take the time to place a marker when resolving an explosion?) and it also includes tokens to track spent/unspent Action Points which are kind of cool but once again, not very useful for the majority of players (we track out loud/in our head and don't need tokens for spending 4-7 action points). All in all, if one can overlook the warts, it is a worthy expansion due to the added variety and interesting tactical choices that must be made.
