I've only played it two-player, but both times, I was surprised to find that this game isn't very fun. It seems like it should be, and it's sure pretty to look at, but it's just not that fun to play. Sold in TasCon auction 4-18

Nothing wrong with it, but nothing exciting either. Players take turns drafting tiles to add to their Favelas, placing them in such ways to win an area majority game in the 5 colors, while also influencing how much a victory in each of the 5 colors is worth. Simple to play and solid mechanically, but also nothing memorable or unique. I'd never be one to recommend it, but would play along if the group wanted to play it.

In Favelas, players stack tiles to show a number of the five different colors. To score, you must have the most of a specific color. Favelas makes this interesting by allowing players to manipulate the value of a color if you place a tile on top another of the same color. This leads to an interesting decision of whether or not to manipulate the value of a color or to increase the amount of that color a player has. Unfortunately, this decision process leaves little agency to players in the game. Most plays are decided by who happened to gain the final tile in a round, as the scoring favors the most recent person to manipulate the colors or their board. the game looks good and is inspired by the great Biblios, but plays out as an exercise of actions, limiting meaningful decisions.
