The Campaign/Battle Card Driven mechanic is a relatively recent development in war games that focuses the players' actions on cards they have in their hand. The very basic idea is that performing a single action uses a single card. Games where cards are used to determine the outcome of battles do not use this mechanic.
Campaign / Battle Card Driven
Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.

Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.

To summarize: too rule heavy. It's a game that's drowned out by an excessive amount of rules and book keeping in what feels like an attempt to completely copy the video game without having the video games automation.

I've invested around 80 hours trying to figure out this game. I've watched content on Youtube, played TTS with experienced players and also tried tonset it up and play it. The rulebook is a hot mess. No coherent explanations. This is basically a manual of a car. The introductory scenario is not sufficient because there's no another scenario that introduces other things like the Holy Roman Empire (which is another thing of its own). You want to have bots and play solo? Good luck analyzing the flowcharts. In one of my plays, after 12 hours I lost all of my army due to one bad roll of dice and saw everything pretty much crumbles infront of me. 12 hours!!!! Oh.. and we were about half game through. Ranking it 4.66 in complexity is a joke. This game needs to have its own category. I wanted to love this game so much! But it is just unapproachable. And yes, I play almost exclusively heavy board games. I'm giving it one star above the 1 for the ambitious project. To me, this is far from being a success. When bringing a PC game to the table, changes need to be made.
