Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.
Dice Rolling
The simultaneous action selection mechanic lets players secretly choose their actions. After they are revealed, the actions resolve following the rule-set of the game.
Simultaneous Action Selection
Maneuvers that directly attack an opposing player's strength, level, life points or do something else to impede their progress.

Really cool components. Add some tactility that would have been missing if it were just cardboard jigsaw pieces. Wish they went the extra step and coloured the player board to make it easier to see what resources you have. Deep down, it is just a roll and write, but the puzzle of arranging your buildings and light engine building element is just interesting enough to make it stand out. There is some very mean take-that in the game though. It made me sad when my opponents constantly rained fireballs on my land, permanently preventing me from building on it.

Was your favorite part of the game Battleship, actually playing with the little ships and fitting them into the board? If so, then give this a game a try, because its actually fun BEFORE and AFTER you build your city in the pegboard.

Game is a lot of fun, real shame about the player boards though. The stickers are a decent fix, but they do not look great. It boggles my mind that they would produce such fantastic components in every other way and choose to leave the player boards this way. Lowered my rating, just too fiddly - would rather play RttA
