Play occurs upon a modular board that is composed of multiple pieces, often tiles or cards. In many games, board placement is randomized, leading to different possibilities for strategy and exploration. Some games in this category have multiple boards which are not used simultaneously, preserving table space. Unused boards remain out of play until they are required.
Modular Board
The primary goal of a set collection mechanic is to encourage a player to collect a set of items.
Set Collection
The simultaneous action selection mechanic lets players secretly choose their actions. After they are revealed, the actions resolve following the rule-set of the game.
Simultaneous Action Selection
Tile Placement games feature placing a piece to score VPs, with the amount often based on adjacent pieces or pieces in the same group/cluster, and keying off non-spatial properties like color, "feature completion", cluster size etc.

This is a very nice looking, family weight game. It is similar to Via Magica. It uses a "bingo" mechanism so the randomness is huge. Also random card draws. The production is very good. If you enjoy combos and chaining effects then this could be a big hit. The footprint is pretty large and the cards and components can get fiddly but it is not bad if you have plenty of room. Best to play at 3 or 4 as there can be quite a bit of downtime as a player is chaining combos.

Bingo with take-that elements. You can make plans but the right symbols may never come up for you to execute them, or by the time they do the board state has changed too much.

A nice game, but I’m not sure there is an audience for it. It is too random to be a gamer’s game and too complex to be a family style/gateway game.
