Pattern Building is a system where players place game components in specific patterns in order to gain specific or variable game results. For example: placing chips on 2, 4, 6, 8 on a board gets the player an action card they can use later in the game.
Pattern Building
The primary goal of a set collection mechanic is to encourage a player to collect a set of items.

Cute and simple presentation with a wide variety of decisions. While the game is certainly abstract, there is subtle thematic flavor that lingers through many of your actions (it is most pronounced in the creation phase). In some ways, the theme itself is both present and abstract itself; the game creates the space for the player to imaginatively interpret the theme. Could use more interaction, out-of-turn moves, or p2p hidden information to help ramp up excitement and possibly lessen AP. Also possibly a less static way for turn order to be determined.

Played it at Spiel 2018. This is a play without expansions and without an evil guy lurking around (don't remember it's name) There is a lot in this game, even without all that extra's, so I do wonder if the expansions(kickstarters?) will be played often, but I guess more is better with some games? The puzzling of the landscape I really enjoyed, getting the right placements at the right time, combined with all the posibillities of the board, it felt great. Only it did take a rather long time to play. I don't mind that, I love longer games, but I know this would hold others back. It's a very thinky game, so people prone to AP should avoid this game I guess. ps. Wouldn't play this with non-gamers (saw someone hoping for this not to be the case)
