Dragons are so cute! All in all dice drafting game with some set collection. Not great gameplay though. Not sure this will get to the table a whole lot.

Super cute, easy to learn/play, and such smooth gameplay. Really enjoyable light game that you could play with a wide age range. Check out my review: https://settleroftheboards.com/dragons-the-best-pets-around/

Don't let the adorable packaging and artwork fool you! Dragon Pets may look cute but with the right people it can be very strategic and cutthroat. That said, you have 4 coloured dice, and 4 corresponding coloured rows and 1 modifier dice (+/- to another die). When a die it is used and the next player gets the remaining dice i.e. I used the orange die and the modifier die, they get the 3 remaining dice. They could pay to reroll, or they could take one of the options remaining including bumping other players pieces off the grid. The catch is your money is also your end score. The point being is you can see all the moves and all the moves you are handing to your opponents and given there aren't a huge number of moves so it's not AP prone but it is very strategic. The 4-player game feels like it ends very quickly which isn't necessarily a bad thing but it is something to be very mindful of because an unfocused plan or playing the long game can lower your score drastically. Dragon pets is a game that is simple to learn and teach, you could even play it with kids; all you are doing is placing workers on a 4x4 grid and making pairs. There's more to it but that is the core game. There are 4-5 actions in total. Make pairs, try to not have unmated dragons at the end of your turn... they cost you points. If you are playing with kids, you may want to tone down strategic blocking strategies a bit! I love this game!
