Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.

The primary goal of a set collection mechanic is to encourage a player to collect a set of items.

Played just a quick demo of this at Essen ‘23, and I was definitely let down. The theme is unusual and enticing, but I didn’t like the luck involved in brewing the alcoholic beverages: you have cards for ingredients and shuffle them together with alcohol cards (to simulate fermentation, and this is cool!), then you remove two random cards from the mixture… If key ingredients are removed, the beverage is spoiled! So, to avoid any risk, you must spend more resources to get at least the minimum number of key ingredients plus two… But a lucky opponent may have great beverages without investing as much as you! The game is lighter, so a bit of luck could be tolerable… but is too long for having this much randomness.

I haven't given a game a 9 in a while. And this is one of my top game experiences from 2023 - so it probably deserves one. I think there is lots of playability. I like the theme - which comes through, the pacing is pretty good (a lot of it seem that you could do stages simultaneously) and I like the push your luck aspect.

Can an economic game be relaxing? This one has grown on me over multiple plays. The great production quality is what caught my attention initially, but the thought that went into this game has slowly revealed itself.
