Die Hard: The Nakatomi Heist Board Game
60m - 90m
2 - 4 Players
Ages 15+
The Campaign/Battle Card Driven mechanic is a relatively recent development in war games that focuses the players' actions on cards they have in their hand. The very basic idea is that performing a single action uses a single card. Games where cards are used to determine the outcome of battles do not use this mechanic.
Campaign / Battle Card Driven
Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.
Dice Rolling
Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
The simultaneous action selection mechanic lets players secretly choose their actions. After they are revealed, the actions resolve following the rule-set of the game.

The big trouble of this game is its re-playability... OK, and also its miniatures... Gameplay is good, however, best name of players for me is 2.

There are some really interesting ideas here: the board that unfolds with each act, the escalating locks you're picking throughout the game, and the guessing game the thieves play with each-other when picking cards. However, there's not much variability in the experience or strategy from game to game, it can be wildly swingy based on the luck of the dice and what tokens you find where, and it's much more entertaining with higher player counts when it's a proper one-vs-many game. Still, when I watch the film every Christmas, you'd best believe I'm playing this straight afterwards! (Painted)

This game is somewhat limited but it is fine. It is a decent experience, but it is not the kind of game that will get played 100+ times in its lifetime. If you are OK with only playing a game two or three times and you like the movie then it is worthwhile.
