1 - 4 Players

Deck building/Pool building refers to a collection of related mechanisms. Players have a personal pool, or collection, of cards or tokens, that provide different actions and/or resources. A subset of those cards/tokens are randomly drawn each turn.

Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.
Dice Rolling
Tile Placement games feature placing a piece to score VPs, with the amount often based on adjacent pieces or pieces in the same group/cluster, and keying off non-spatial properties like color, "feature completion", cluster size etc.

For us this was a perfect dice game. I love the fact you use a tiny portion of the technology deck each game. I don't get the complaints that the resource tokens are too large. They are designed for your player board, not the mat tiles so the scale is perfect. Do people really want to pick up something a fraction of an inch every time they use a resource that would be the scale of the map. Seems silly. All 4x are accounted for here. Tons of ways to mitigate bad dice rolls. One of our favorite dice games. I love how compelling each of the X is. You are really torn between the area control, getting resources for trading, as well as exploring new map tiles. The combat is pretty friendly as you are just removing a cube that the other player gets back and the objective is to lock down that tile and not take something from you. Most combat games the intention is to take something away which can be mean but in this game you are locking down the tile for points. In most tiles there are secondary majority scoring so you don't lose much by being taken out.

Remarkably dull dice bag building civilization-esq type of game. Of the 4 of us that played, none of us were really impressed by the game. It was just boring from start to finish. It doesn't do anything particularly well apart from instilling boredom.

A 4x bag building dice civilization game with a short player time by David Truczi, the designer of Anachrony. The intertwined mechanics are really well done: different dice, resources, hexagon tiles, and bonus cards. Luck is mitigated by reroll tokens and by wild dice (two dice of a kind). The explore and area control via hexagons is an additional layer to get to more resources, dice or victory points. Having many dice gives more flexibility but it is not a dominant strategy, since players can only do 2 actions on their turn and take one die over to the next turn - all leftover dice are useless. My least favorite part is the aggressive grey dice to attack other players in order to shift majority control. Besides that, this Dice Settlers provides a lot of game within a small package and rather quick playing time.
