For us this was a perfect dice game. I love the fact you use a tiny portion of the technology deck each game. I don't get the complaints that the resource tokens are too large. They are designed for your player board, not the mat tiles so the scale is perfect. Do people really want to pick up something a fraction of an inch every time they use a resource that would be the scale of the map. Seems silly. All 4x are accounted for here. Tons of ways to mitigate bad dice rolls. One of our favorite dice games. I love how compelling each of the X is. You are really torn between the area control, getting resources for trading, as well as exploring new map tiles. The combat is pretty friendly as you are just removing a cube that the other player gets back and the objective is to lock down that tile and not take something from you. Most combat games the intention is to take something away which can be mean but in this game you are locking down the tile for points. In most tiles there are secondary majority scoring so you don't lose much by being taken out.

Not my favorite solo style (where the AI kinda gets to do what it wants) but it's actually is one of the better implementations of it. It still doesn't exactly mimc a human, but it's close enough. Certainly going to give it another try.

Bag-building with dice sounds like my ideal game, but the colonial theme is a turn-off and deal-breaker - so-called ‘settlers’ weren’t so innocuous when you think about the lands they stole and the Indigenous peoples they displaced and killed.
