Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.

Enjoyed the encounters a lot, but like many others, I found the game to go way longer than the stated 60 minutes. It was tedious waiting for others, convoluted and unnecessary complex. Sold from collection.

This looks like another game in the designer's tradition of taking a solid existing Eurogame system (Pandemic, Risk Express aka Art of War, and now Carcassonne: The Castle) and adding a bunch of "theme" and luck to it. I found myself attracted to these games due to my love of the underlying system, but then frustrated by the added luck-based resolutions. I'm pretty sure this one isn't for me either. It seems very tedious for every scoring to involve resolution of a story card.
