Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.
Dice Rolling
Some board games incorporate elements of role playing. It can be that players control a character that improves over time. It can also be a game that encourages or inspires storytelling.

Dark Moon is hands down the best traitor game on the market. The plausibly deniability with the hidden dice rolling makes it (relatively) easy to remain hidden as the Infected while still tanking the tasks. (Unlike other traitor games where it's durn near impossible to stay hidden.) --- I've fired Dark Moon in anticipation of Warehouse-13 (because there's only room for one traitor game in any collection). I intend to de-rate Dark Moon to a 9 after verifying Warehouse-13 is as good a game is it portends to be.

This is a rules heavy game and a bit of a smash up between dead of winter and resistance. Its really fun and a great game but its not the best of both worlds. Play "The Thing Infection at Outpost 31" instead its strictly better.

Formerly known as BSG (Battlestar Galactica) Express. Each crisis is based on dice roll instead on playing cards. I love BSG the board game, however, Dark Moon comes with a similar traitor tension, shorter play time, simpler rules, and better support for different player counts. Dark Moon feels a bit too abstract, the theme is weak. It is the first time, where I understand people who complain about the missing thematic integration. Dark Moon does not tell a story. The game feels more mechanical: task xxx happened, roll dice, next. Player: 3-7 Time: 60m-75m
