Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.

Won both games it's been in, exactly the way it should. Got left alone mostly, and won one turn before someone else would've blown past. Not as satisfying to play against, though. Not really satisfying to play AS, either ...
Desaix
(2024 updated rating after 40 games in person) Tsang (original) - 2 Leng - 3 Sarkomand - 6 Black Lotus - 9 Tsang, this is mostly a "self-centred engine" passive faction (like Yellow Sign) that does not play much the area/gate control game with the other players. The overall game experience is weaker for everybody when they are in play as there is more uncontested spaces on the map, less players' interactions and they can win fast and easy before everybody else by far. Same as Yellow-sign, it is so unbalanced that all players absolutely need to beat him up out of the game right away, so generally giving not very interesting/fun games. Best left out of the Game. Leng is more interactive as it has to bring High Priest on enemy areas and trigger a giant end-game battle with it GOO. Has a good climatic feel to it but is too strong in Doom production. Sarkomand requires to buy IGOO and Neutral monster to be able to send on enemy gates. So it requires to own few other expansions as the faction relies on its neutrals to be able to influence the games (= to have fun). It is an alright fiction but a bit passive, Black Lotus is the more fun and balanced tribe combo to have them in the game. Playing them with the Quick Miniature Balance Patch (https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/3032470/quick-miniature-balance-patch-v12) also helps for game balance.

A faction with 3 tribes, one of which is the bog standard faction that just makes the game not fun. The sculpts are some of the ugliest available, but the GOO is arguably the best in the collection. Tribes sort of fixed the balance issue, but spit and polish doesn't do much to a flaming wreck.
