    I don't like the player draft for teams - it can create mismatches straight from the off. Don't like the 'real time' timer for actions - gimmicky and hard to enforce. Don't much like the measuring stick. Didn't feel the back and forth of actions between the sides gave enough opportunity for anything resembling a professional football match to appear.

    Fabulous game, gives you the real feel of a football match: great fun, unexpected turns of events, very fine mix of luck and strategy. Plus, outstanding customer service and a vaery active online community (Discord and Tabletopia). My favourite board game of all time (and I'm a middle-aged man).

    Possible present for Chris. No idea how good it is. Found it playable online at Tabletopia. I think this may immediately be my favourite sports game. Counter Attack is a football (soccer) strategy game which lasts for 90 minutes. The two players (‘managers’) each control a team of 11 players. Every player has a unique set of skills that the managers try to best utilise during play. Managers control how the players move, pass, dribble, tackle and shoot.

Duels between players on the pitch – whether tackles, shots or headers – are determined by a combination of the unique player skills plus a dice roll. During movement phases, a sand timer is used to keep the pace of the game up.

Counter Attack features everything you’d expect in a game of football, from corners to free kicks, penalties to red cards and injuries.
