Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.

Chels: 8 Ant: 8 Aegyptus is just weird, requiring lots of time dedicated to its flooding gimmick that pulls players out of normal play patters. Creta, on the other hand, is one of the best 2-player maps (along with Corsica).

Does exactly what I need it to, gives me a 2 & 3 player map for the game. The Egypt map has some fun unique rules as well.

The Aegyptus map adds very interesting new mechanisms and plays differently than all other maps. Particularly, it strengthens the Colonist card which I regard as a little weak otherwise. Aegyptus is therefore my favorite Concordia map overall! :) Creta is also a nice tight map, very well suited for low player counts. I think it is my favorite Concordia map for 2 players. I like it a little better than Corsica because the only 8 provinces of Corsica make Saturnus cards a little too unattractive in my opinion, I therefore like it better that Creta has 9 provinces. Furthermore, Creta's special bonus rule for Gavdos is an interesting small new element. These maps are also physically smaller than all other Concordia maps (very slightly wider, but considerably less deep), which can make them a particularly good choice for smaller tables.
