Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.

Euro story campaign game by Alexander Pfister (Maracaibo, Great Western Trail) that mixes many mechanics workers placement, resource management, ship upgrading, deck building, grid movement with your cloud ship, but the game is not as heavy as the other games by Alexander Pfister. The theme is apocalyptic. Overall the game looks rather dry to me. Innovative: cards are inserted into printed sleeves that cover up some parts of the inserted card and provide only some information what to expect (exploration).

A great improvement on some of the ideas found in Maracaibo (attack to generate resources, multi-use cards), but this is a lighter game with a much better theme and a few chance elements thrown in (deckbuilding, randomized combat, fishing for resources). I like that the "output randomness" can still be mitigated quite well with careful play. The "cloud cover" on the resource cards is a brilliant thematic touch, and I like how movement the board is still somewhat competitive without a huge amount of blocking. Fun game!

Friends rate it 9/10 Rating after first scenario. Bit stilted but there were some nice bits.. However my score was lower than others (as a three, more than twice the difference from first and second) Few areas were there were some lucky bits. Others with luck and mitigation potentials. Interesting use of cards and cycling them. I liked the movement and the blocking I felt can play part. Missions too were generally fine. The group loved it :) Edit. Increased rating. It's exciting! The game is clunky. The cards under the airship should be at the bottom for they're cumulative. 80s theme and it's exciting seeing the cloud reveal. The airships block the icons on the cards. CloudAge has you go out flying off over terrain looking to collect water and potentially fight off what's there. Four would be interesting as if someone goes for a drone, everyone else gets one too (max four which means the third player dictates the fourth). There's a bingo element/fruit machine peer (where you try and get the next reel to drop) to it where you aim to predict which resource will be most prominent (water, solar, metal or military) and other players are involved and everyone gets something and two players get an addition bonus [youtube=KXrBlHsGMRA] https://youtu.be/KXrBlHsGMRA Might sleeve
