Deck building/Pool building refers to a collection of related mechanisms. Players have a personal pool, or collection, of cards or tokens, that provide different actions and/or resources. A subset of those cards/tokens are randomly drawn each turn.

Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.

This one seems to have really positive ratings, really negative ratings, and a lot of average reviews. I can see why the ratings are all over the place on this one. It's really quick with no downtime. It's a set collection race with variable powers for each of the sets. A discard power that makes your play area weaker and permanent effects so long as you have enough of the set. Everything is easy to understand and teach. There is a lot of luck in what you draw as with anything, but in fighting off other players effects and casting your own I think there is plenty of strategy/tactical options to mitigate that to keep it interesting. I think the game could use better reference boards or cards, but I do like how it shows how many of each card is in each set for where you are in the deck (there are three levels or ages as they call them). This is a good filler, starter, or gateway game. I think kids could play it easily once they get their head head around the powers.

Nice artwork. More abstract (cards for each domain are identical, domain effects are loosely connected to theme). Short and some room for cleverness so worth a try, but does not stand out.

Looking forward to playing more to see if the combos stay fun to build. Feels kind of like a simpler Innovation.
