Deck building/Pool building refers to a collection of related mechanisms. Players have a personal pool, or collection, of cards or tokens, that provide different actions and/or resources. A subset of those cards/tokens are randomly drawn each turn.

Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.

Tried it with 2, 3 and 4 players, everything works well. I really like the game, short yet very clever, lots of possibilities and the game is really different when played with 2, 3, 4 or 2 vs 2. 2 players is a bit more dependant on luck from what I saw.

Rating based on 2p only. Not sure I would play it with more. The design is solid and once you understand how to win, it just sings. Sadly underrated.

Clever card game. Allows for some interesting combos to be pulled off and, once everyone learns the game, eye daggers are everywhere and every tableau must be accounted for. Typically, the first couple of plays will finish by instant win. However, later games will often go down to final scoring of dominance and tie-breakers. The final rounds are still interesting as everyone postures for certain dominance and/or for certain tie-breakers. CIV can be easily taught, is interactive once everyone knows how the cards combo off each other, plays briskly, and has a bit more depth than its amusing appearance would lead you to believe. Quite good for its play time or as a filler.
