Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.
Dice Rolling
Play occurs upon a modular board that is composed of multiple pieces, often tiles or cards. In many games, board placement is randomized, leading to different possibilities for strategy and exploration. Some games in this category have multiple boards which are not used simultaneously, preserving table space. Unused boards remain out of play until they are required.
Modular Board
Maneuvers that directly attack an opposing player's strength, level, life points or do something else to impede their progress.
Take That
This mechanism requires players to select individual actions from a set of actions available to all players. Players generally select actions one-at-a-time and in turn order. There is usually(*) a limit on the number of times a single action may be taken. Actions are commonly selected by the placement of game pieces or tokens on the selected actions. Each player usually has a limited number of pieces with which to participate in the process.

I’m very pleased with this kickstarter purchase. A unique game with unique mechanics that work well together. There can be a fair amount of “take that” in this game so I wouldn’t play it with someone who can’t handle competition. Also, the game can end fairly abruptly once the city has been completely revealed. I personally like that as it keeps you on the edge of your seat, and forces you to make the most of your turn. Pushing you to accomplish as much as you can as you don’t know when the game will end. I’d recommend it.

Okay work placement area control with a bit of engine building. The main tiles though, were a bit boring, and I didn't find them very useful during the game.

This is an odd one. Engine building with a smidge of area control. Resources drive engine construction & operation meaning that at some point you need to swap from building your engine to running it for VPs. Oddly enough, the primary VP scoring in your engine comes from the tiles (locations) on the board. The developments you have are really special powers that help you run your engine, help you with income, or give you endgame VPs. There is potential combat, but it's not really incentivized. For 1 resource (1 zap), an opponent can attack your robot. For 1 resource (1 zap), you can move your robot back to where it was. That's it. The special powers on the developments drive everything and will lead to unequal power levels. They also are the core of player differentiation. Not bad per se, just something to know. I don't like the end. It can easily just pop after a certain point. There probably won't be equal turns. All in all, a good game but kind of swingy. Good game length. Great theme and story. Good artwork. Definitely worth playing but not my favorite.
