Century: Golem Edition – Eastern Mountains
30m - 45m
2 - 4 Players
Ages 10+
Play occurs upon a modular board that is composed of multiple pieces, often tiles or cards. In many games, board placement is randomized, leading to different possibilities for strategy and exploration. Some games in this category have multiple boards which are not used simultaneously, preserving table space. Unused boards remain out of play until they are required.
Modular Board
This mechanic usually requires players to pick up an item or good at one location on the playing board and bring it to another location on the playing board. Initial placement of the item can be either predetermined or random. The delivery of the good usually gives the player money to do more actions with. In most cases, there is a game rule or another mechanic that determines where the item needs to go.

I really enjoyed the first of the trilogy and the art of the cards. Initially I didn't think I'd like this 2nd game as much since the art doesn't play much of a role. However, the multi-level decisions to be made to win are very intriguing. I've only played solo multi-handed, but I think this would be a great 2 player game with each player controlling 2 colors for offense and defensive moves and you keep only your lowest score. Not even tried the combo with earlier game, so this game has a long future of good gaming. Eventually I'll pick up the 3rd one.

My least favourite of the trilogy. It's not bad, but not great. I enjoyed the puzzle more in the mixed game of Golem 1+2, particularly the cycle of playing cards and using them for movement. Adding the cards essentially allows you to reach a point where the board spaces don't matter much though, and the game starts feeling like a weird version of the base game with a board tacked on.

Plays best at 3 players, similar to the original, but with a little more meat....Tom prefers the first over this, but rates this game. Also combines with the first to make a bigger game.
