Tile Placement games feature placing a piece to score VPs, with the amount often based on adjacent pieces or pieces in the same group/cluster, and keying off non-spatial properties like color, "feature completion", cluster size etc.
Tile Placement
This mechanism requires players to select individual actions from a set of actions available to all players. Players generally select actions one-at-a-time and in turn order. There is usually(*) a limit on the number of times a single action may be taken. Actions are commonly selected by the placement of game pieces or tokens on the selected actions. Each player usually has a limited number of pieces with which to participate in the process.

The base game ends too quickly, and has few tiles and combinations of different goods and too little engine building. This fixes it. Donkey meeple is nice, hopefully in the Era III there will be more animeeples and it would be nice to get all of the goods of Era I and II made of wood. Well let's see if there will be Era III.

It felt contrived at first but this actually does a fine job of fleshing out the base game into a representation of Caverna. Will there be an Era III on the way with the farming aspects?

The shorter game variant (from the Big Box rules, available on the publisher's website) makes the game faster and fun.
