Things to note: Average player count I played at - 1 Number of plays at time of review - 12 win/lost - 4/8 difficulty - played all three, mainly standard without shadow of the menace variations. review: This game I sat down to play after playing Nautilion and seeing that this was a tile laying game. Their are two bags in this game that you pull tiles from, one is small with no timer tiles, the other is a push your luck bag that is about 75% of the tiles but has the timer tiles. These timer tiles will activate 1 of 3 events in order when the correct number of timers has been drawn, if you don't have the necessary castle built went the event goes off, you loose. Its a nice solid concept, and their is mitigation effects you can do to help balance pulls and soften the bags. You really need those mitigations and balancing the bags as the game can be very unforgiving. While the game is easy to grasp, the amount of thought you have to sink in makes this game burn a lot of brain cells for the Win. Even then on pure standard I have got screwed by the early RNG that can crush a game, even with using the ability to discard a timer, yet blow up your castle can wreak you. I have had a lot of frustration with the bag pulls, that lead to a lot of losses, yet the satisfaction of wining is amazing. I will point out that the "hard" mode of the game is not necessarily the standard game on steroids (like typical hard modes), but rather a different twist on the game on its spitefulness stacked on its foundational systems. It does add abilities to your tile structures (Read the rules to make sure you use these). I still recommend before trying that you play the game a handful of times to have a good grasp of how to properly manage the bags. I have noticed that if you can push your luck on that hard bag with the first dozen draws and lean heavy on the "foreteller" tiles, while also managing the easy bag when you need it, you have the best change of getting ahead of the game. Once you push past the first event and you had also thought about the 2nd event while meeting the requirements of the first you can really run away from the game. This really brings satisfaction as I found it hard to due, but then it looses the tension that really makes the game (or stress you out). I think this game has a place and can be a good brain exercise, but I am not sure if its always fun and I would not recommend as to may people would get stressed or mad they keep loosing. Defiantly for a small group of gamers.

Initial Impression: The artwork in this game is similar to the other games in the oniverse. A bit disappointed with the simplicity of the artwork in this particular game, I can understand that the tiles don't provide a large canvas with which to showcase the artstyle. The game is easy to set up and playtime is not long. The rules are super simple to remember and I can see this hitting the table more than the other oniverse games in my collection. I have yet to play higher than the architect level so really hope that the game has lots to offer. I enjoyed what I've experienced so far.

Fun - once you get a hang of it, within 2-3 plays - and introduces very well anticipation, thinking ahead to the upcoming ordeals. Good structure in the three different play levels
